Well you can add me household to the list. The squeak noise comes and goes and I just hope that I die before this tracball does. That being said, have you tried our TB? Nothing fits like a Trackball.
I was bummed because there really is no replacement. I really miss having it and can only hope MS comes to their sense at some point.
Look for trackball and see if its yellow question mark. Click to remove it.when you reboot it will find new trackball have the driver cd that came with your mouse. If you don't have the right cd go download one. Its always free under suport. Its not that hard.you need to learn this cause you have to do this to install lots of things.
After I glued it in place, I let it dry over night.

I asked the guy if he had any opaque balls but he said no. I use it with a laptop, too, but mostly with a desktop as I mostly use a desktop workstation. I think he guarantees the work for 60 days after the repairs.
My doctor is convinced that using the TBE has prevented the strain on my right. The rollerball is much better when on the computer a long time or the hours in a day gaming. I have purchased 3 over the years and was shocked to see the price at over a hundred dollars a explorwr years ago. I bought the drill bits from ebay, and a drill chuck for my dremel that would accept such tiny bits. I think Microsoft would be trckball surprised at the demand if they made this product again.
Just found this link. I got the new Explorer out several times with the idea of hooking it up, but I was put off by the scrolling wheel opration having to be done with your thumb. I just wish I could get the Microsoft logo off of trackbal I have left.
